The filter in the waste jar needs to be cleaned every few treatments and replaced every 12-16 treatments. To clean simply remove the jar and filter then brush the filter with a basting brush or old toothbrush to remove excess crystal build up. "Whacking" the filter with the back of the brush will further help dislodge dust. The filter is very important, if it becomes blocked the system is unable to function correctly and the treatment quality will be compromised. If in doubt try to blow through the filter, if you cant or can but barely it needs changing.
